Reading Response 4 - Andy Bumba

I would say that this reading is very lengthy and attempts to cram as much information as it can in a small area. There were points where the reading would talk about a book or something that was partially relevant to the topic, but could have been explained in a simpler way without including everything about the book. Most of the reading was a jumble of ideas and concepts that were difficult to follow and invariably made computer science a lot more complicated than it had to be. For example, the analogy used at the beginning of the 'pixels' chapter is using an easy concept of a net and light to describe pixels. Unfortunately, the way it goes about describing the net+light situation is very complicated and uses a lot of computer science specific terms that make the situation more complicated.

Nevertheless, it is informative about the different aspects of programming in relation to specific parts that are more common in programming. It explains these in a way that a non-computer science major can understand, if they can interpret what the words are saying. These metaphors make it easier for people who have no experience with computer science to begin understanding the fundamental concepts which computer science is built upon.

Overall, this reading is informative, but confusing. It explains itself, but in a way that may be more confusing if the reader doesn't know anything about the topic. This reading is not only annoying to read, but also probably confuses people more about the idea of computer science.
